Australia
Australia has some of the most detailed document requirements in the world, especially for visas and employment. If you are new to Australia, most people need a tax file number within their first few weeks, and many jobs ask for a national police check.

New Zealand
Many visitors to New Zealand do not need a full visa but must hold an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before they travel. Students, researchers and workers need a visa that matches the purpose of their stay.

India (for Indians living overseas)
If you are an Indian citizen or a person of Indian origin living in Australia or New Zealand, the most common documents are a police clearance certificate (needed for visas and permanent residency) and the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card, which lets former Indian citizens and their families visit India without a visa.
- OCI Card – eligibility, documents and application steps
- Indian Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from Australia
- Indian PCC from New Zealand
- Indian passport renewal – applied through the Indian High Commission or consulate (outsourced service provider) in your country of residence
Canada
Travellers from visa-exempt countries (including Australia and New Zealand) usually need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Other travellers need a visitor visa. Study permits, work permits and permanent residency applications usually require biometrics, medical exams and police certificates from every country you have lived in for six months or more since the age of 18.
- Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) – apply only on the official Government of Canada website
- Visitor visa (Temporary Resident Visa)
- Study and work permits
- Police certificates for immigration

Nepal
Nepali citizens living in Australia commonly need to renew passports, obtain a Nepal police report for visa or PR applications, and have documents such as birth or marriage certificates translated and certified. These are usually handled through the Embassy of Nepal and the Nepal Police online system.

United States
Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries, including Australia and New Zealand, can visit the USA for up to 90 days with an approved ESTA instead of a visa.
Tips that apply to every country
- Use official websites only. Many look-alike sites charge extra fees for services you can do yourself.
- Check your passport validity. Most countries require at least six months of validity beyond your travel dates.
- Start police checks early. Overseas police certificates can take weeks or months.
- Keep names consistent. Make sure your name is spelled the same way on every document, or be ready to provide evidence of a name change.
- Get translations certified. Documents not in English usually need a translation from an accredited translator (NAATI in Australia).
- Keep copies. Save scanned copies of every document and receipt you submit.
